Gli Occhi Freddi Della Paura

Cold Eyes of Fear

Desperate Moments

directed by Enzo G. Castellari
released in 1971
duration 95 minutes

Wow, this film is a rare find. Gli Occhi Freddi Della Paura (Cold Eyes of Fear) is so boring it hurts. It is not often that you come across with films that are this dull.

Just like Short Night of Glass Dolls, Gli Occhi Freddi Della Paura starts off very promisingly. After that, we are being tormented by a fucking dull hostage drama that manages to do nothing but frustrate the viewer. There are probably 10 minutes worth of interesting footage in the whole movie, and as the total length is around 95 minutes, watching this movie is torture. The Ennio Morricone soundtrack is good, but we rarely get to hear it, and to be clear, there is nothing that could possibly save this movie.

There is lots bad acting and the cinematography is not that good either. The screenplay of this movie is probably the single biggest failure. The hostage theme bores the viewer quite quickly, and the occasional, short action scenes seem irrelevant to the film. For instance, what is the deal with the supposed street fight between motorcyclists and the cops? That scene is just completely stupid.

In conclusion, Cold Eyes of Fear is mistitled film. It should have been called Sad Eyes of Boredom. I hope that says it all about this awful movie.
